Art of making wool dogs

I’ve been sculpting wool dogs for about 4 years. I started with an idea that I wanted to make people happy with my art. I’ve always loved dogs and I love sculpture. I took pottery classes but I found it frustrating because your on a time limit because the clay is temperamental when it starts to get dried out or too wet. I enjoy working with wool because if I need a break I can just walk away and it will remain until I return. Working with different fibers other than wool is interesting. Some slip past my needle and need to hand woven with other fibers to create a coat for the wool dogs. Since I was a hairstylist for so long I think my eye is tuned to seeing colors differently and how they pick up the light. I enjoy the process of sculpting personalized dogs based on photos and love it when I get in some beautiful well lit photos so I don’t have to guess what the true coloring is. Looking forward to writing blogs more this year and giving my insight on needle felting and possibly other things I find that are interesting in this big world.
